Directions For:
Installing Microsoft Dial Up Networking
NOTE: Put your Windows 95 CDROM in the drive or have your disks ready!
First, you must use control panel's Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup, Communications, Details to add Dial-Up Networking, if you did not do so during Win95's installation.
Next, double click on Network under the control panel. You must add the TCP/IP protocol, by hitting the Add button, select Protocol, then go to Microsoft and highlight TCP/IP and hit OK.
Do the same for the Dial-Up Adapter, and Client for Microsoft Networks if necessary.
If you are not on a local network Remove the Client for Netware Networks. Remove IPX/SPX and NetBEUI support...if you use one of these, do not remove them.
These are the settings for the Network dialog box....also accessible from the Control Panel's Networks icon:

Driver: Enhanced Mode
Bindings: Microsoft TCP/IP,
Advanced: Leave it alone
Microsoft TCP/IP:
Bindings: Client for Microsoft Networks
WINS Configuration: Use DHCP for WINS resolution
IP Address: Obtain an IP address automatically
Advanced: Leave blank
DNS Configurations:
Enable DNS:
Host: InterCity Oz
Domain: interoz.com
DNS Server Search Order: 204.49.131.3
Hit the Add button!
DNS Server Search Order: 199.44.2.10
Hit the Add button!
Gateway:
New Gateway: 204.49.131.1
Hit the Add button!
Advanced: Check off the box
IDENTIFICATION PAGE:
Just fill it in.
ACCESS CONTROL PAGE:
Choose Share-Level Access Control
You should now be done with the Network configuration. Close it and follow whatever prompts you are given.
You will probably be told to do a reboot. When the machine reboots enter the username you provided in the
identification page (above) and hit enter for the password. Then hit enter again for the confirmation. If
you don't you'll be entering a name and password everytime you start your computer (MAJOR DRAG!).
Setting up a Dial-up Location for InterCity Oz:
Select the Dial-Up Networking folder by double-clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, then double-click on "Dial-Up Networking", or it is in the Accessories Start Group
Click on 'Make New Connection'.
If you have previously configured your modem it should be in the lower windows. If not it will do so now. If you have a 28800, choose 57600, 14400, choose 19200.
Ensure hardware flow control is selected.
After this, it will bring up the Make New Connection Dialog
First page:
Change My Connection to InterCity Oz
Your modem should already be selected. HIT NEXT
Second Page:
Skip the area code and fill in the phone number with 230-3637 or 763-3918
Hit NEXT, hit FINISHED
It will add an icon to the folder, for this connection. You can right drag this icon as a Shortcut, to the Desktop or your Start Menu. Or, you can press and hold and left-drag the icon to the desktop.
While still in the Dial-Up Networking main folder, select the menu Connections, then choose Settings. From here, you can setup Redial characteristics.
you are now able to login in to the Internet from Windows 95's built-in PPP support.
