Take advantage of campground discounts

Plan your trip so that you will arrive early in the day. This many times makes for vacancies and possible cheaper rates.

Be sure to park by a shade tree to help reduce the cost of running an air conditioner.

Consider purchasing a campground membership if you travel often. You get discounted rates and usually discounted propane.

If you have a fully self-contained trailer and are on a long trip consider staying a night or two at a campground without hookups. It costs less and you can refill water tanks and dump the holding tanks at your next full hookup location.

Check to see which states offer free public sleep-overs for travelers in transit.

Golden Age Passports are offered to those 62 years of age or older. This is a lifetime entrance pass to national parks, wildlife refuges, national monuments and national recreation areas.

Carry a portable generator

Before winterizing your RV, pour bleachwater into the fresh water tank. Drive the RV around to slosh the bleach, then drain, refill with water and drain again. This will keep your tank fresh and odor free.
