An RV trip can go from being the most fun any family can do to a totally disastrous nightmare if the RV owner is not properly prepared. The following items should be checked on a regular basis, and especially before starting out on any long trips, to insure that your RV is in sound condition. A very expensive repair bill can be avoided by keeping a close eye on fluid and lubrication levels. These are also the simplest to check.

TOWING VEHICLE

Remember to change the engine oil about every 5,000 miles. Even if your vehicle sits for a long period of time the oil need changing because additives in engine oil dissipates over a period of time. A good rule of thumb is to change the oil every 6 months.

Keeping the outside of your RV is important, too. If not washed regularly rust will form. Before winterizing you should thoroughly clean your RV. If traveling in the winter you need to wash often to remove road salt.
