A survey course for those interested in astronomy. Emphasis will be given to the laboratory and a descriptive approach to the study of astronomy. The following topics will be included in the course: computer programming, photography, astronomical observations, rocketry, and electronic intrumentation in modern astronomy. Students who maintain a grade average of at least an 80 will be eligible to participate in the field trip to McDonald Observatory near Fort Davis, White Sands Missile Range, Holloman Air Force Base, and Cambridge Solar Observatory at Sunsport, New Mexico. Recommended for those who are interested in growing and maintaining house and garden plants. The importance, distribution, and use of economically valuable plants will be included in this course. The fundamental principles and practices of growth, maintenance and use of horticulture plants, along with landscape and greenhouse techniques will be emphasized. Horticulture does not satisfy the requirement for a science course.
