High School Graduation Requirements for 1994-95 Eighth and Ninth Grade Classes

The new recommended Texas high school program consists of a list of core courses and optional courses to be completed during Grades 9-12. The intention of the "recommended state high school program" is to define a high quality, progressive program for students that will prepare them for successful entry into the workforce or a past secondary institution. All students receive the same type of diploma. All units for graduation shall be earned in Grades 9-12, with the exception of Algebra I in Grade 8 and Foreign Languages taken in Grades 7/8. Only one credit may be earned from local credit courses on any transcript will be counted in computing the grade point average. A student may graduate under the "high school student program" or the "recommended high school program".

** Due to flexible scheduling in our high schools, it is possible for a student to earn 31 credits in grades 9-12. This would allow more electives in the Recommended Program.
