Lubbock Independent School District

Introduction

The Lubbock Independent School District was established in 1907. Accredited by the Texas Education Agency, LISD is the largest school district that serves the city of Lubbock. The district enjoys a well-deserved reputation for its varied and quality special education, magnet, and gifted and talented programs. Career education courses are considered an important part of the curriculum, and computers for instructional use and available throughout the district as early as kindergarten. Athletic and other extracurricular activities are available for student participation.

LISD’s administration and Board of Trustees are constantly seeking to improve the district’s diverse, quality instructional program. Provision is made to accelerate learning at all levels. Services are available for all levels. Services are available for all ages, from newborns in the developmental education program through adults in the adult education program.
