The district’s gifted and talented program is designed to meet the needs of students who excel in the areas of general intellectual ability and/or creative productive thinking. Seventh and eighth grade students who meet district identification guidelines are served in English and social studies classes by the classroom teacher trained in meeting the needs of gifted learners. Their classroom curriculum is differentiated through both acceleration and enrichment. Critical and creative thinking stategies play active roles in these classrooms, providing students with appropriate challenges and more indepth understandings of broad based issues and themes.
