FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The following language courses must be taken in sequence. Graduation credits are earned for foreign languages taken prior to the 9th grade. Two credits for the same language meet the "foreign language" requirement for the high school advanced transcript.

French Level IA, Grades 7-8 , 1/2 Credit
Is begun in grade 7 or 8 and is the first half of Level I (graduation credit is not awarded until IB is passed). Includes conversation, listening, reading, writing, videotapes, language games, and culture such as art, poetry, music, fables, foods, customs, and geography of the foreign countries. (3410100)

German Level IA, Grades 7-8, 1/2 Credit
Is begun in grade 7 or 8 and is the first half of Level I (graduation credit is not awarded until IB is passed). Includes conversation, listening, reading, writing, videotapes, language games, and culture such as art, poetry, music, fables, foods, customs, and geography of the foreign countries. (3410200)

Latin Level IA, Grades 7-8, 1/2 Credit
Is begun in grade 7 or 8 and is the first half of Level I (graduation credit is not awarded until IB is passed). Includes conversation, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, English derivatives, and culture such as art, music, foods, customs, geography, and history of ancient Rome. (3430100)

Spanish Level IA, Grades 7-8, 1/2 Credit
Is begun in grade 7 or 8 and is the first half of Level I (graduation credit is not awarded until IB is passed). Includes conversation, listening, reading, writing, videotapes, language games, and culture such as art, poetry, music, fables, foods, customs, and geography of the foreign countries. (3440100)

Spanish Level I, Grade 7, 1 Credit
For students in a magnet junior high, provided that the student has had at least three years of Spanish at a magnet elementary, has the recommendation of the elementary Spanish teacher, and elects to take this course instead of Spanish IA. Includes conversation, listening, reading, writing, videotapes, language games, and culture such as art, poetry, music, fables, foods, customs, and geography of the foreign countries. (3440100)
