GRASS FLATS
Grass Flats is a tributary that is located behind Shell Island which is fed from the warm Gulf stream. The
warm waters make this a natural spot for growth and development of all fish species from minnows to giant
Manta Rays. It is also very agreeable for the formation of coral reefs and sponges. The warm Gulf stream
travels from Mexico up the coast to Florida where it actually comes to shore on Panama City Beach,
making for warm waters and natural habitats for sea life. This scenario makes for excellent snorkeling . The
waters in Grass Flats are shallow and are excellent for snorklers from beginners to novice.
Another great site for snorkeling is St. Andrews State Recreational Area .
