The Zerenike Protectorate

Bird watching is an ever increasing popular activity in Egypt, and the Zerenike Protectorate is a wonderful place to participate in this.  Established in 1985 by Egypt's National Parks office, the protectorate covers 220 square km of land along the beach between El Arish and Lake Bardawil.  The area is a haven for migrating birds, and just inside the entrance, which is about 16 miles east of El Arish,  is a visitors center which documents the birds with information.  There is also a cafeteria at the center.
