Theocritus
Ptolemaic Dynasty

Theocritus was a poet in around the 270s B.C. who wrote about varied topics including an Idyll which portrays a vivid scene of Sicilians. It was written about the 'quarters' of the city of Alexandria which were the five areas designated by the first five letters of the Greek alphabet. Theocritus was the creator of many other works including one where his Syracusan ladies compliment Ptolemy II Philadelphus for having made the streets safe. This is not actually a fact, however, and the factual records of crime are horrific.
