| Teye 20th Dynasty
Teye was the mother of the man that conspirators had hoped to put on the throne in place of Rameses III. Thirty-one men were implicated, along with six of their wives. All except four of them were executed or allowed to take their own life. The plot centered, however, on the women of the harem, Teye in particular. Although her son was found guilty, the women of the harem seem to have been left alone. The group of conspirators is enlightening as to their motivation: eleven officials of the harem, twelve officials or courtiers, five military men, and a solitary priest. Shop
