After 529, many leaders of Alexandrian philosophy were either converts to Christianity or professed to be. John Philoponius, who had written commentaries on the works of Aristotle, was one of these. Proclus wrote polemical work in eighteen books speaking out against the Christians and was attacked, in turn, by John, who tried to show that he was ignorant in batters of Greek scholarship as well.
