Meryre' II served during the reign of Akhenaten as superintendent of Queen Nefertiti's affairs and household. When the cult of Aten crumbled, he was there to watch with his father Meryre' I at 'Amarna. After the fall of the cult, Meryre' II disappeared. The successors to Akhenaten moved to Thebes and embraced the worship of Amon. His unfinished tomb was discovered in the cliffs at 'Amarna.
