| Ipuwer 14th Dynasty
Ipuwer was a prophet who had heaped reproaches upon the king, who was likely the last of the Memphite line, for his weakness and indolence. This king was thought to have been too young to have any sense. Ipuwer was also a sage who wrote a lengthy set of lamentations on disorder. He is respected because his teachings spoke straightforwardly. He offered an apocalyptic view of the world with drama and detail, and it haunted the people's imaginations and was irresistible centuries after its composition. Shop
