Ineni was an architect during the reign of Tuthmosis I and Queen-Pharaoh Hatshepsut. His career probably began during the reign of Amenhotep I, who was the predecessor of Tuthmosis I. He was one of the most famous architects of his time because of his supervision of the building of various projects at Karnak. He was responsible for building a protective wall around Amon's shrine at Thebes. Doors made of copper and gold were added, as well as pylons. Flagstaffs made out of cedar and electrum were made for Karnak. Ineni was an aristocrat of his nome and served for many years. He was loyal to both the crown of Egypt and the god Amon. Ineni was buried at Thebes.
