Idu
6th Dynasty

Idu was a supervisor of priests during the reign of Pepi I. Sometimes called Idut, he was concerned with the maintenance of the pyramid complexes of Khufu and Khephren as well as the ceremonies. This was a very important position with lasting importance of the tombs and the rituals conducted there. Some of the pyramids and temple complexes became small cities in which everyone had a part in the funeral rites that were conducted there.
