Monuments

Egypt

We've Covered the different pyramids of Egypt in our Monuments section under the Antiquities page; however, this area is dedicated to the construction and architecture of the pyramids, how they were built, and the evolution in design from the step pyramid to the true pyramid. Beginning with the step pyramids of the 3rd Dynasty, and continuing for centuries, the pyramid is a marvel of construction, and is considered one of the "Seven wonders of the world." The pyramids are the only of these seven that remain standing and intact.
The Step Pyramid
In this section we discuss the design and construction of the step pyramids of the early dynasties. These pyramids were large, but due to their structure, not nearly as large as the true pyramids.

The True Pyramid
Here you can find information on the design and construction methods of the true pyramid. This type of pyramid is common in the later dynasties, and is an amazing feat of architecture.

  Construction Techniques
The construction techniques that the Egyptians
used on the pyramids are, for the most part, a
mystery; however, this region of the site is
dedicated to informing you of the major ways
that scientists theorize the Egyptians could have
moved the large stone blocks used in the formation
of these giants.
