All persons diving in Florida must display a Florida Divers Down Flag as shown in the above picture on the left. This means anyone swimming at or below the water surface with a mask or snorkel or any underwater breathing apparatus. The flag must be at least one foot in height.
Navigational Rules require vessels which are restricted in their maneuverability because of diving activity to exhibit an Alpha Flag, shown above right. This flag must be rigid and at least one meter in height. This flag must be displayed in addition to the Divers Down Flag.
Flotation Devices
Type I,II,III, or IV PFD for each person on board or being towed.
Fire Extinguishers
At least one B-1 type hand portable.
Visual Distress Signal
Approved visual distress signal for nighttime use.
Sound Producing Devices
Any sound producing device is acceptable as long as the device can produce the signals as required by the Navigational Rules.
Backfire Flame Control
Arresters must be USCG approved
Ventilation
At least two ducts for the purpose of ventilating every closed compartment that contains a gasoline engine and tank, except those having permanently installed tanks which vent outside the boat and contain no unprotected electrical devices. Also, engine compartments containing a gasoline engine having a cranking motor must contain power operated exhaust blowers which can be controlled from the instrument panel.
